We have been subject to more than our fair share of multi day power outages. Enough to warrant the purchase of a generator to keep the refrigerator cold, the freezer frozen, the microwave oven cooking, and the furnace heating (via a transfer switch).

The generator has two 120 volt outlets on it. One is dedicated to providing the furnace transfer switch (in cold weather) leaving the other to service three devices. I had used a power strip but the setup was clumsy. I purchased this to bring the power in house from the generator. The freezer (in the basement) plugs into this and two 25 cords reach the refrigerator and microwave. When the microwave is not in use, the cord powers the media center.

I've also used it with our Christmas lights, while working around the house (plug in a work light, power tool, and radio). Once I had it, I wondered how I lived without it.
